(parenthesis) 10.19.00
"I think Bush might be more effective at getting what he wants done, though, because he seems to be able to get along (at least on the surface) with a wider variety of people, and has a knack for surrounding himself with people who can get things
done. Only drawback with that is that he might be more effective at leading the country into a future I'm not thrilled with."

"So one unlikeable (at least on camera) guy that I think may prove to not be very effective at making his political views a reality (a fact that, on some of his issues, I find a relief), or one guy who can maybe 'get things done' but they're mostly the wrong things."

This precis of the upcoming US presidential election, by Lynda, is it, in a nutshell.

We Didn't start the Weblogs >> Feature

OK..... I barely know any of these blogs, but I sang along with the tune! I'll give points for clever even if I don't click of each one of the fory million linkages.
Data Powers of Ten
Exabyte (1 000 000 000 000 000 000 bytes)
5 Exabytes: All words ever spoken by human beings.
Zettabyte (1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 bytes)
Yottabyte (1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 bytes)

I *want* a computer with a Zettabyte Harddrive. Although the NPR report I heard conflicts with the above, Zettabyte is supposed to be the be all and end all.

Course, the cooling fan would be the size of my house... But I'd never run out of space!

Well, OK, so it might take me a year or two....

the dog is stinky and needs a bath but she's wearing that damn Advantage stuff so I can't wash her. VERY SMELLY!

"The cat is not all bad--she
fills the litter box
With Tootsie Rolls."

That sound is me laughing like a loon. I wish I could remember who's dog it is that I know does that. It's got this whole, approaching the litterbox "MMM, Kibble" thing going on. The dog'
s breath then spells exactly like fishy catfood eaten, digested and shat. Lovely!

Losing A Pet

So, I'm researching local Funeral homes for a client, and I come across this site. And then this page. I know I shouldn't read it, I know I shouldn't read it. I read it. I have a lump the size of my house in my throat. I think I'm going to go pat my cats now.

The Age: Dollar crumbles to new low
"The Australian dollar crumbled to a fresh record low of 52.15 US cents this afternoon and the pressure remains unrelenting."

So, my AU$ are staying firmly in Australia then. Better off using it for buying and shipping me Australian goodies that actualyl cost twice as much over here. $3.60US for a packet of Timtams, based on that, my AU$ in Australia are actually worth something.
IT: Robot sales boom, vacuum cleaners to hit home
"By the end of this year, home robot vacuum cleaners are to go on the market as well, the report said. They work like the lawnmowers, guiding themselves slowly and quietly around the house."

Can you program them to avoid sleeping cats, I wonder? Then again, my cats all bolt when they hear us coming with the vacuum cleaner, so maybe it wouldn't be an issue. They might freak out just a little more if we weren't actually *with* the vacuum...
WARNING: Domain Name Authority of Australia

What a pack of shysters! Of course, I've received similar invoices here in the USA< from people wanting me to buy their .cc or .nu domains with the names of my existing domains in there. Got to wonder how many people they've caught..

world wide jeb

"I alternated between living in Torquay and Melbourne in 1998 and 1999. People I lived with included a drug dealer who grew dope in his wardrobe (was eventually arrested); a man who
didn't cut his toenails for 10 consecutive months (known as the Raptor); someone who had a spare room known as the Paper Room (filled with old newspapers and garbage - sort of like a large garbage bin); a librarian who had a strange double life after-hours (I came home earlier than expected one night and found four people - three of them librarians - having sex on the couch). And some other people, too."

I mean, with a URL that's, I had to look, and then I find he's had at least as weird a housemates as I had in the 80's and 90's.
